I was looking at my exercise log here and my zip is synced with mfp and today it's showing -7 calories burned. how is that even possible?

I'm pretty sure that means you've burned more than you've consumed.0

MFP estimates how many calories you will burn each day, based on the values you enter for how active you are each day.
Your Fitbit provides a more accurate value. so when you sync your fitbit to your MFP account, the fitbit value will be used.
If the fitbit value is higher than MFPs then you will have earned extra calories that day.
If the fitbit value is less than MFP's estimate then you will have a negative adjustment.

to make matters more complicated, during the day, a fitbit total daily value is estimated. So if you have a very busy morning, you might have a daily estimate which is higher, and you might 'earn' a lot of calories based on that. As the day progresses and you are more sedentary, the daily estimate drops, and you lose some of the calories that you 'earned'.
On the MFP Exercise tab, you can click on 'Fitbit calorie adjustment' to see the values for that day.
If you prefer not to have negative adjustments from your fitbit then your MFP account can be configured to ignore these.0
