College Student -Lightly active or active?

Hi!
My classes began earlier today, and I am having some difficulty determining my activity level. My campus is fairly large, and I am walking to all of my classes. I mapped my total distance walked today, which will most likely be an average day, and it came back at around 2.75 miles. I plugged that distance into an approximate calorie estimator (at a 20-minute mile pace), and it said that I burned about 310 calories.
I know MFP overestimates calories burned, so I do not want to place my activity level at lightly active (or sedentary) and log calories burned from exercise. Is this amount of walking enough for me to up my diet settings to active?

Doesn't matter. Just pick an activity level. If you don't lose weight after a few weeks, lower calories. If weight flys off way to quick, increase calories. Those MFP goals are simply starting points and should be adjusted based on actual results. For the sake of answering your question I would say moderately active would be a good starting point.0

IMHO, no. I would consider that at best, lightly active. What are you doing the rest of the day? If its sitting, reading, studying, then you are sedentary. I walk 3-5 miles a day (I've got two dogs that require this) in addition to a 1hr cardio workout at the gym or hour run and still put sedentary. Now, I realize I am far from sedentary, but I am sitting most of the day at work. this setting has worked in that its allowed me more margin for error and I am steadily losing at two pounds a week. I am about thirty pounds over the weight I should be, but I'm taking off a little more than that for my goal.0
