I don't always use the food log. When I am in a good place eating healthy foods, eating mindfully and with a purpose I don't log for months at a time. I get in a zone that works for me very well. When I slip a bit I log and make appropriate changes and get back in a sweet spot. I started to slip a bit so I have started to log.
A colleague was looking over my shoulder while I was logging food at the end of the day. I usually log at home.
Colleague: "Bit neurotic don't you think."
Me: "You think?"
Colleague: "Yeah." (chuckle)
Me: "Let's see-From the person that drives 4 miles out of their way to get gas at the same gas station, and has bought gas from that same gas station on EVERY fill for 25 years because it makes your car run well. From the person that logs and computes gas mileage every fill since 1985. When I ask you for what purpose-Do you make changes like changing plugs, adjusting air tire pressure or change your air filter based on your mileage calculation? You say-no-just habit. Are your more interested in what you put in your gas tank than your pie hole?
Colleague: Heh...See ya' tomorrow. (walks away)
This person eats a SAD diet and freely admits to having SAD diet issues.

Friend of mine made a funny observation while driving with someone --- they had a nice car and made a point of putting premium gas in, and other points of taking care of their car ... then came out of the c-store with junky snacks. My friend pointed out the discrepancy and I think it hit home. At least created some cognitive dissonance ... whether anything comes of it (and in your coworkers case as well) remains to be seen.
That's why I don't proselytize about this health & fitness stuff ... if people ask questions I'll answer, but otherwise it's impossible to save the world.0 -
I wouldn't have said anything to this individual had he not commented about what he thought was my neurotic behavior. Then all is fair.0

Yeah, I would've said something to them, too. It's bad enough that they were looking over your shoulder, but then to comment on what you were doing, blatantly acknowledging their snooping? A snippy response was deserved! This is reason 4,584,672+ I am so thankful I do NOT have any co-workers!0

Good response, thanks for posting. I'm pretty sure it was wasted breath but at least you defended yourself logically.0

I really did not take offense at his looking. I don't consider what I eat to be information that wouldn't share. If it was something that was sensitive for me I would have told him so and ask him to leave my office nicely. We are a pretty tight as a group. We discuss current events, diet, music, sports etc. without hurting peoples feelings. We don't speak of religion, ethnicity or nationality.
I thought I would give him food for thought. I don't think he will change. We are solid friends. I didn't really take offense at his comment and I am pretty sure he did not take offense at mine.0
