I am finally getting back on track after my rotator cuff injury and surgery!! It seems everything is starting to come together. This has been a tough recovery! Anyone else been recovering and getting back at it again?

I had a new pacemaker implanted in April. It's not a standard implant, it's a deep one under the pectoral muscle, because I am young (32) and active and it's better for me that way. Unfortunately that means more serious and painful surgery with a longer recovery.
I was doing yoga a month after surgery, to regain strength and flexibility in the shoulder area, and just the other week my instructor commented on how, when I first started, I couldn't hold my own weight up and now I appeared to have no limitations.
I've had a few hiccups since then in terms of my heart rhythm, so returning to my prior cardio fitness level hasn't gone so well, but I had my pacemaker tweaked the other week and it seems to be working like a charm, so I'm getting back into hiking and jogging again, and keeping up the yoga. It feels great to be back!
Best of luck in your recovery0 -
Nope. But I was there a few years ago after surgery. Hit my highest weight ever, 163 lbs (I'm only 5'1"). Was hell getting back to running, but I knew I loved it before and I'd love it again if I could just get my fat *kitten* in gear so that's what I did.
Best of luck to you. You can do this!:flowerforyou:0 -
Welcome! I didn't have surgery, but I did put on a tonne of weight after a big move, so I felt like I had a lot to lose, and I still have more to get to my goal. I had a huge family-stress going on that made it hard to make time for myself and I really wasn't in the gym as much as I would have liked. BUT! I will absolutely attest that MFP worked for me and helped me lost my first 40 lbs in 6 months, mostly by watching my eating, and really just a little bit of walking incorporated into my weekly routine - nothing crazy or over the top. I used to think I was one of those people who just had to work out like a total maniac if I wanted to lose weight, but I have learned with mfp that's not necessarily true. Be gentle with yourself, keep trying to push a little farther, and I believe you will succeed!0
