Squats, deadlifts, lunges, and good mornings are all great lifts for your legs.

If you're looking for a routine, I'd recommend looking into Starting Strength, Stronglifts 5x5, or The New Rules of Lifting for Women. They are all great programs and a good way to get into strength training.

back of your thighs = hamstrings and glutes.

Find exercises that hit them, and since you're a newbie, maximize effort and benefit with compound lifts.

    - Squats (get a form coach)
    - Deadlifts (get a form coach)
    - GHD crunches
    - Leg curl (Isolation I know, but it will help teach your body to activate those hams.)

ETA - Derp, forgot. Lunges. Lunges forever.

And outside of the lifting arena, running is good for hams, and, to a lesser extent, glutes. Skating hard (you have to be down and getting good leg extension) will really work the glutes.
