STUCK at same weight (100kgs) for the last SIX weeks

Hi

I'm stuck at 100 kgs for the last six weeks. Though maintaining the weight, but I desperately want the scale to move.

Though I have lost 5 inches overall in these six weeks, but the scale just dosent moves lower, it either goes to 101 kgs and comes back to 100.

I am drinking 3 lts water everyday fr the last 10 days, it has helped me in digestion and better skin.

I'm 27 years, 5'6" tall, female.

Would appreciate help :)

Is it possible you're gaining muscle and that's why the scale isn't moving? Are you doing any sort of strength training/weight lifting?

There could be several reasons that you are not losing weight, water retention, medical condition etc but the most likely cause is that you are not eating at a deficit

Are you weighing everything you eat and measuring everything you drink?

You will need to open up your diary for people to be able to give more detailed advice

If you open your diary to the public view it will be easier for people to comment.

Failing that tell us how many calories you eat on a typical day and what the grams of protein, fat, carbs and fibre look like.
  • If you have checked that you are logging correctly, and ruled out any issues, sometimes it helps to mix things up a bit. Take your total calories for the week and shuffle them a bit so that you have a higher than normal intake for a day or two and on a few of the other days, a lower than normal. Try to keep your weekly intake to the same number of calories but vary the days a bit.

Are you exercising? (water retention)/ Are you counting calories? (diary is closed).

If you're losing inches, that's the main thing. Try and focus on that first and foremost, as it means you're doing something right! :) Sometimes when we change body composition beyond just fat loss (it happens when you exercise) the scale doesn't always show a loss but change for the better is happening.

Keep doing what you're doing, the scale will likely catch up at some point. If it doesn't, or you stall on the inch loss, you may not be in a good enough deficit. Do you track everything? (sometimes the little things really do add up) How many calories are you taking in when you do this? What is your exercise/activity like? If you have MFP set up accurately in terms of your activity and what you're logging, and have it set to be in a small deficit (maybe 1lb a week for now, and 1/2lb a week when you get closer to goal) you should find you get back on track.

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for your responses. Yes I do eat in modification, but I am not counting calories. and definitely not keeping any diary. Just started with MFP two days back.

To be honest I do not know how to find calories... if someone can help me with that, please :)

I exercise 3 times a week, it ranges between 30-60 mins, all inclusive. I finish dinner by 6.30. From the last 10 days having 3lts water eachday. I will start keeping a track of my food from 1st sept. I try to avoid sweets, but after marriage (since Feb 2013) have started eating more of sweets, as I'm married into a family who loves to have sweets... :)

I'm going to increase my workout time as well starting Sept. I want to be in a good shape by Feb 2015.. when we'll complete 2 yrs of marriage, and start our family :D

Properly fueling your body for the activity you do is essential. I typically find that I under eat for the amount of exercise I do. As a result, I maintain or even gain a small amount of weight. I was able to lose 4 pounds without trying in the last week, simply because I started to eat more. My abs are slowly coming around. Under eating will cause your body to go into survival mode and store extra for the famine, ha ha.

So you don't count calories or log your food. Hmm I wonder why you aren't losing weight.

I'm having the same problem; someone recommended that I switch up the activity I do and the foods I eat. I tend to get stuck on things that work and then plateau

    That's a good idea,
but unfortunately I do not have a weigh scale that shows pounds :( and even if I use converter, the no will still be same...

Though its an intelligent tip to keep yourself motivated :) keep it up!

that is because I want to start afresh and ensure what I eat is actually correct. Plus the day is already ending in this part of the world (I'm in India, and its 9 pm here)

and also because I dont know how to count calories in the Indian food.. I need to learn that take some time to adjust., and I dont want to quote wrong nos.

  • I stayed at a plateau for several months earlier this year, neither gaining nor losing. At some point, everyone started asking me if I had lost weight! I got really frustrated because *I KNEW* the scale hadn't moved!!!

BUT, my body was busy doing other really healthy things for me, such as changing my body composition. And everyone around could see it, as my body got stronger and leaner, despite the scale not budging.

It just means good things to come, as long as you stay healthy and stay focused on your long term goals. It's a marathon, not a sprint!!

No scale movement but lost 5 inches? That's progress in my book!

If it makes you feel any better, I went SIX MONTHS without a change on the scale, but like you, lost fat and inches and dropped a full size during that time. I laughed at my silly scale and went out to buy new jeans. :drinker:

Don't let the stupid scale mess with your head - if you're losing inches, you've not stalled. The scale will catch up eventually, but tape measure trumps scale any day in my book.

    Try harder at the gym

    Eat at a larger deficit

Effort can be measured through results, if your not getting results then your not trying hard enough.

If you did in fact lose 5 inches in 6 weeks that is actually incredible and you should be happy
