Introducing myself

Hello, I started my profile over a month ago, but hadn't done anything since. Realisticly, I probably won't be doing any serious dieting or exercising until after the holidays. But I figure if I get in the habit of logging my intake and frequenting the site, maybe it will do some good.

I'm going to check out the blogs and other tools too, so I know what is available to me.

I'd like to lose a minimum of 43 lbs., but no more than 73 lbs. I have an underactive thyroid and a slow metabolism. It's difficult for me to lose weight after the initial 2-3 weeks. (I usually plateau at 13 lbs)

It's freezing cold out this time of year, and I'm debating about joining a gym or trying to do a workout video at home. Any recommendations? I don't have room for exercise equipment, but do have a flight of stairs I can run up and down too.

I really hate working out if it's not a part of something fun like tennis, golf, swimming, biking, etc. So keeping my interest will be a challenge too. In the end, I just need to keep my focus on the goal and the possible end result if I dedicate myself to eating right and exercising more.

    WELCOME!

I agree that fun activity is key. Do you have a YMCA near you? It's freezing here in Buffalo, NY, but I can take water aerobics classes, swim laps, attend free swim, etc, at my YMCA. The Y also has a gymnasium, offers different kinds of classes...they're GREAT!

I also love to roller skate and ice skate which are two great indoor activities.

    YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Welcome, you have come to a great site. I also am not fond of doing the same exercises every day so I ride bikes in the summer and alternate going to the gym and doing weight training and cardio with doing exercise tapes at home like the 5 mile walk with Leslie. Or just walking down the river. It helps if you have someone to work out with. Good luck
