Running and carbs

Hi everyone, after some advice if anyone can help. I have signed up for a half marathon and have begun training. I usually eat 1500 calories a day. A little background about me - I have spent the past 3 1/2 years losing weight and eating at a calorie defective with exercise. I have reached my goal weight and have been maintaining for about 3 months. I have now signed up for a marathon and run twice a week and do upper body strength training twice a week. I am struggling with my runs and I wonder if it is because I do not eat enough in the day - or at least enough carbs and am lacking energy. I think maybe I should increase my carbs? But after so long eating at a deficit my mind set is so anti carbs (I know some carbs are Good and I eat about 55% of my food from carbs - but I just mean in terms of bloating etc) I just have this fear - irrational or not - that lots of running and more carbs will make me bulk up or put on weight. Maybe I would be better to simply eat something - not too long before I go running to give me energy. What would be best? Are the any runners that can advise what they do? Thank you very much in advance. Sarah.
