Honestly, is 5'4 considered short on a girl?

My mother was 4'11" and had to wear childrens' shoes but when she stood in the middle of her eleven 6 feet plus brothers, her mana put her head and shoulders above the tallest of them.

It's not the size of the body of the woman that counts but the size of the woman in the body.

I'm 5'2". Short. I think 5'4" is right on the border.

The average American woman is 5'3.8"

I am an inch shorter than average. My husband is just over 6". He reaches the things on the high shelves and I fit into the small spaces.

    I'm 5'3.6
I don't think I'm particularly short, but I'm not tall either.
I like my height, except if I were really tall I would look skinnier... :grumble:

I have always thought I was 5'2" but I measured myself again recently and I am only 5'1". I had to recalculate my BMI and everything haha. I would love to be 5'4"!

I'm 6' tall, so 5'4" is kinda short to me, even though I think it's average for a woman. But when I see a woman who is 5'4", I don't think she's particularly tiny. Just average-height, I guess.

5'4" is statuesque compared to my measly 5'1"

To make matters worse, I'm the only one in my family that is under 6 foot, women included. Womp womp.

I think that's average, depending on where you're from. I'm 5'7 but considered tall for a woman since most men here are around 5'7, give or take a couple inches.

Why is this even an issue? You can't change it, so who cares?

It depends on who you're dating.

At 5'6, when I was with my 6'8 husband, I would wear 4" heels and strategically find steps to make things work. He thought everyone was short.

5'4 is average height in my opinion.

I'm 5'5 on a good day...my ex fiance was 6'10. He thought everything was short. I thought everything was too tall. Main argument was the moving of the seat in his truck when I drove to when he drove. He always forgot to remember I drove it last.

I think it really depends where you live! I'm 5.7 (and a half) and living in England I'm considered tall... however, when I go and visit family in Germany I'm back to being a very average height for a female (and most 13 year old girls are taller than me...).

Am I bothered about this? Not really... and neither should you!

Just for fun - somebody had too much time on their hand and compiled a Wiki page with average heights by country. Have a look and you'll find that you are bang on average for a US female (they did even adjust it for various ethnicities).
