You trying not to derail ?

Well, I'm a on /off type person, I'll be all into working out for about a month than lose focus and pretty much be on bad behavior for 1 to 2 months. its always been like that. I have to drop at least 40 pound. I should be weighing in at about 190 but I'm at 226 right now so basically I have a horrible track record staying on task I am not lazy yet what I wrote doesn't back it up lol I have decent cardio, not in horrible shape. I think i know what it'll take to accomplish my goal but obviously I don't its like Jekyll and hyde within in me or may just be lack of focus. I want to stay on course....

Anyone else have these issues? or have difficulties staying inspired for the long haul ?

I am new to the forums also wife got me into it : )

thanks I hope this makes sense

Put a picture of your wife on the bathroom mirror and every morning, when you start your day, remember why you're here. Then, why its fresh in your head, go pre-log your food. If that isn't enough motivation, can't help you.

You may be too restrictive when you are "on", so it requires more effort than you can sustain. This may be the most common reason for this kind of problem.

A less common cause that only you can answer about yourself--you may also have an undiagnosed, variable medical problem, such as Hashimoto's thyroiditis or bipolar disorder, that makes it difficult for you to sustain focus and discipline over a long time-span. If you suspect this could be true, see your doc. No reason to suffer from a treatable condition.

But what is "bad behavior"? You don't even have to exercise to lose weight, and you don't have to eliminate any food types at all. I do agree that you may be a bit too restrictive whenever you're "on", which makes it difficult to continue on your plan. A smaller deficit per week could be one option for you to consider. I've been doing .5 lb per week for my last 25 lbs lost. Have you read this post?
