I am looking for some pals to talk clean, nutrient dense food with. I LOVE fruits and vegetables and we make just about everything homemade, from pizza dough to bread, sauces and even branching into making pasta. We make changes to recipes to make them more natural and better quality calorie intake. Some recipe sharing, nutrition info exchanging, "REAL food" knowledge community would be a wonderful thing! Please let me know if you are interested in helping guide my choices as well as share one another's favorites and things we know!
Give me some positive food people! :-D
Thanks!

Have you ever seen the Clean Eating Magazine? There are awesome recipes in there.0

Shanally - I would like to be your friend. I am not perfect but I am trying to be a clean eater. I sometimes eat Lean Cuines or Smart Ones and do go out to eat, but when I cook at home it is pretty good.
Another website I found is www.eatingwell.com It has a lot of wholesome ingredient recipes - no fat free Cool Whip to be found ;-)0 -
One of the best things I did was try as much as possible to eliminate processed foods and switch to real whole foods. I'm hoping to keep it up thru the winter when fresh stuff is harder to find & more expensive. I'm always looking for new combinations & recipes.0

I try my best to eat that way as well but do occasionally slip up.0

Hi! I am slowly transitioning into a Paleo/primal way of eating so I definitely hardly ever have processed things. and looking to try some new and creative recipes especially now that I'm on winter break!!0

I eat about 75-85% clean I would say. I haven't eliminated everything processed from my diet nor do I intend to. I like the odd pizza and bag of chips and it's not about to kill me.0

Thanks guys! I am no where near eatig perfectly I just see so many people want to lose an incredible amount of weight while continuing to consume fast food and easy processed garbage most days. REAL food is there for a reason and I am just looking for some pals that I can be more so on the same wavelength with and talk about the slips and benefits and all that of our everyday choices. We all deserve to indulge now and then... we are human! And besides some of it is yummy! But How if we don't consume fruits and veggies along with REAL whole grains... how could we expect to lose weight or stay healthy and work toward or maintain fitness??? Important details, that's all. I would be more than HAPPY to be in touch with you all. Thank you for your support and commonality.0

Yea, I've been eating as clean as I possibly with the above average slip ups which happen. However, I don't recommend eating beef or pork which contains saturated fats. I know it's "natural" however it's not "healthy". I also try to elimante as much cheese as possible. I am still in the learning process about the whole clean eating subject but I hope that this has been a little helpful. Oh, and avoid processed foods, obvisously it's not clean. I always check the labels on everything I buy. I don't drink regular milk either I drink Almond milk. It's really healthy and tastes really good.0

I am not looking for people to tell me what I should do but people to share with and support one another as we eat REAL food. There are MANY people on this site that don't realize how important REAL food is and I want to touch base with those of you who feel that same about eating quality and valuable calories instead of empty food. Thank you for your support! :-D
We all have slip ups. I was not raised eating everything homemade but in the process of circuit training and weight loss I have learned so much about the importance of nutrient dense calories. Life how we live it these days makes this even more challenging and sometimes EXPENSIVE. I am just one who thinks it is most important to make your own dinners instead of popping in a frozen lasagna. Ya know? Thanks, to all of you for your support and information! It is all wonderful to share!:-D0 -
Shanally, I agree with you completely about people not realising that one of the major components to a healthy weight loss is healthier choices. I see so many people's diaries that are just loaded with ****. Sure they're below their calories for the day but they're way off track and probably won't last very long or will yo-yo once they reach their goals. I feel like Popeye these days with the amount of spinach I eat, except that it's not canned.0

Good post!
I've been cogitating a lot lately about nutrient dense eating. To me it just makes sense that if I allow myself a limited number of calories a day to make those calories as dense in nutrients and void of crap as possible. I recently read an article by some doctor in the Huffington Post about a study they conducted. The had a test group who ate a set amount of calories but the calories were mostly junk and a test group who ate the same amount of calories as the other group but they ate only nutrient dense calories. What they found is that the junk eaters were hungrier more urgently and more often than the nutrient dense eaters.
I'm very involved with food personally, politically and economically. I made my living for 26 yrs in various areas of the natural and organic food industry. I've belonged to a CSA (community sustained agriculture) group for 4 years. I shop as fresh and local and healthy as I can. I belong to a retail food coop as well. I am not perfect, but I make as many good "clean" choices as I can. I make almost all my food and I try to stay in the fresh perimeters of the grocery stores where I shop.
good luck and happy eating (friend me if you want )
