How to prevent binge eating

I have been doing really, really good all week. Then last night, for no reason at all, I ate 5 muffins in one sitting. I swear its like my brain shut off and I was on auto pilot and then woke up after it was over. I don't know why I do that sometimes. I used to do a lot more, so it is getting better but it still happens. Any suggestions on how to stop it or be more aware of it when its about to happen? Thank you!!!

How is your nutrition the rest of the day? Do you think you are eating enough throughout the day? I used to be a horrible binge eater: I increased my calories and got my nutrition in line and I am soooo much better. Add me if you'd like.

Dehydration? Not eating calories recommened (ie setting weight loss goal too high?). I sometimes confuse hunger/cravings when truly I realize I haven't had enough water for the day. Hope this might help.

I'm also on the "eat more, binge less" wagon. sometimes it's not an emotional eating, sometimes we're actually hungry.
  • Yep I do the same exact thing!!! Y does food have to be so yummy!!!:explode: :noway:

It's one of the reasons joined MFP. I binge and wake up not knowin how it happened. Now I try to go for a run whenever I feel like I'm going to binge. I head away from the food. I'm going to join a semi expensive gym in the winter so I'm not trapped inside with my fridge.

You are doing better - WONDERFUL!

I try to keep the high-cal treats out of the house. Can't eat what ain't there.

I find activities that need doing - organizing stuff, fixing the house (that always needs doing). I find it hard to snack while I am moving. Reading a book or watching TV I can stuff my face.
