Anyone know the name of this snack?

I thing the younger people on here may recognize what I'm talking about here.
At school, sometimes they served these little snacks with our meal. I think it came in a small, green bag. They were these little circular dots. They were brown and about 1/2 across, not particularly thick but not thin. They tasted sour. They definitely were apple flavored. I'm trying to remember the name but all I can think of are "apple dots". They were not hard, but soft and chewy. It is not a candy, as far as I know.
This was in central U.S. Small, brown chewy apple flavored snacks. Anyone?
