Anyone planning on riding a metric century or a full century this coming year?

I see so many people talking about running a 5K, 10K, half and full marathon but I never really see anyone talking about a century or metric century. Biking is so much easier on your knees than running so I can't imagaine why there's not more people involved in it on this site. I used to ride centuries all the time before I was married but I haven't since then.

I rode in three last year as organized rides, and a total of 3,300 miles thus far. I wrecked my knee in college, so running is out. Don't know if I will ride in an organized century in the new year. They are fund raisers, and a long drive. So, I will probably just plan my own.

I love riding. I've only done one century, but many triathlons. My guess is the cost is very prohibitive to people. Not only are the bikes pricey, but then all the gear that you need/will want. Running is sometimes so simple...

I always forget about the price of biking having bought my bike 11 years ago...I don't spend much money on biking these days.

I think I only did 2 organized centuries. he rest were on my own.

I've always wanted a road bike and finally broke down this month to get a Cannondale Synapse 6 Feminine, she's a beauty! Yes, the price prohibits many people (finally got all the gear together) but the cost longterm is minimal if you love and use the bike regularly. I'm still learning to ride and learning general bike maintenance but looking forward to doing longer rides next year. Nice to see other cyclists on here!
