Starting routine for 49 yr man

I'm doing NROL4W and my hubby has asked me to create a workout for him - should I just start him on my workout or should there be different things in a man's routine?

At home we have a home gym thing (for pull downs, rows, arm presses etc), dumbells and a bar with weights.
He's a complete newcomer to formal exercise / gym, 18 stone and his exercise of choice is walking, so be gentle with him :-)
