Hello wise people. I have set a long term goal to get to 180 pounds by June 1st. I have not set any short term goals and I see that a lot of folks out there have. Do I need to worry about not setting short term goals and can I be successful (in the long term) without them?

Hi. I would say if you are comfortable with just going after your long term goal that is fine. I set some short term goals because it will help me personally get a boost once I reach each one. I need the self motivation, but if you don't then you shouldn't worry about it.

Of course you can! But it is sometimes helpful, ESPECIALLY on those days where we feel defeated and see no light at the end of the tunnel, to have little goals. Then there IS light at the end of MANY tunnels. :)

I have found that for me setting short term goals really helps! You can set your goals in 15 or 20 pound increments (or whatever you wish). I have a weekly goal to meet and then I also set 15 pound increment goals. And for every 15 pounds I reward myself with something, whether it be new Steve Madden pumps or a massage at the spa. But make sure you set the rewards to something that you really want and you will strive to get!
