Since I've started this I knew that my weight was not just because I am lazy.. I'm an on the go kind of girl. I need to learn to plan better. I need to learn how to stop when I'm full.
I've learned, since I actually started to track what I eat.. I CONSUME A LOT OF FOOD. I've always been apart of the clean plate club.. and maybe that isn't such a good thing. I have learned that I totally inhale all my meals. I rarely eat at the kitchen table.. I snack..all..day...long. How I've lost 40 lbs so far I have no idea but I've hit a total plateau.
I need help.
Do you ever feel like a lot of you..revolves around food? I feel ridiculous saying so but.. I feel like I plan my whole day around the next time I'm going to shove something into my mouth.
Any suggestions? help?

Absolutely - think about it alot! BUT I got to 450 lbs by NOT thinking about it! My sister is doing this with me too and we do spend alot of time talking about what we're eating and how we're exercising, itc. Scary but true: I'll be in the middle of cardio blast step aerobic class and I'm thinking about getting home and eating my lunch. I think its just part of the natural process of focusing on making this huge change in our lives. And sometimes I get sick of it, once in a while feel I'm SO tired of thinking about if something going in my mouth is good or bad, am I exercising enough, etc. So on Fridays I commit to having a healthy breakfast, getting my workout in, and then eating whatever the hecks strikes the mood. Lately that's been IHOP, and cadbury chocolate. So I get my break, get my cravings taken care of, and I hope back on board Saturday morning.

Just stick with it, in someways it gets easier but for those of us who have struggled with weight all our lives, I believe thinking about it alot throughout our days will hopefully prevent serious relapses.

My mom and I were just talking about this today!
My life (and hers ok my entire family... where i learned it) revolves around eating.
When we are cooking one meal we are talking about what we are going to have for the next!
Since starting this, I find I think about it even more!
I think I am approaching it differently though.
I am planning what exactly I am going to eat for each meal and exactly how much I will be eating.
I think that makes a big difference.
Maybe someday consuming wont consume my thoughts? Hopefully!
  • My whole life revolved around food, the only time I thought about it was when I was planning my next meal. Otherwise I'd eat as if I was unconscious and didn't really keep track of how much I ate. It didn't seem like alot to me, but those darn calories sure add up. For the past week and a half this site has really opened my eyes as to how much food you can eat, how much food I would have eaten had I not been using this site, and has made me actually make conscious choices to not eat the high calorie food that I normally would have because I am keeping to my calorie goal.

I completely get what you’re saying. Even when I plan romantic dates I plan where my DH and I are going to eat (instead of planning a date that doesn’t involve food, such as rock climbing, bowling, etc…) or any celebration we have I think “ok well where should we eat?” instead of “ok, what should we do to celebrate” It does seam like my world revolves around food entirely to much, but everyone tells me it’s a process so hopefully once day I can change the mind set.

I do have to say I feel like all I can think/talk about now is LOSING WEIGHT topics and not specifically eating.I felt that way toward the beginning about eating because I was hungry all of the time. Now, I do think about it but I don't obsess over what time and when I am going to eat again because I try to keep my mind on other things such as getting some sort of exercise in.

I understand that too. Most time when I am around my my family it is all about what we are eating for our next meal, and family gatherings always require lots of food. I have a problem with not stopping when things are in front of me, or spacing out and eating without even realizing it. But that fact that you see this and understand this is great, and its something to improve on. I've worked on my snacking by putting the portion size in a bowl/plate and putting the rest of it away!

Ya know its weird. I was on the phone with my mom and we were planning an event. One of us mentioned "Well what will we eat?" It was like, the only way the event was going to be fun, even with all of the family, friends, games and fellowship, was if we had the right food. The right course. The right dessert. As long as our mouths tasted the right tastes and our bellies are full. Its ridiculous actually. Not that food can't be fun, but that shouldn't be the main aspect! But we are raised that way! At least I was!

And its hard not to get sucked into it in almost the opposite direction. You are changing your lifestyle. You are counting calories, watching EVERYTHING that goes into your mouth. Eventually its hard not to obsess over EVERYTHING that you eat! Life is about a balance. We don't want to eat too much, too little. And we don't want it to become all consuming. :o)
