I'm back, and I'm serious now....

I joined this group several months ago but wasn't seriously into the group thing. Now I am convinced I need it, along with tracking and counting calories, carbs, etc. I have several health issues going on at once, (FMS, Obstructive sleep apnea, osteo arthritis, knee replacement surgery, five blown out discs in back,, peripheral neuropathy, pre diabetes) basically, you name it, I got it! And oh, hypo thyroid which is the only good thing because it more or less explains why no matter what I did, I couldn't lose weight. I tried the Fast Metabolism Diet, gave it a month, lost two pounds, tried the blood sugar solution diet, didn't lose weight at all, tried working out five days a week for six weeks, nothing lost, its so damn frustrating. So I though when I got on the thyroid meds, as long as I stuck to a reasonable diet and kept exercising i would lost weight. Well, at first I did. Slowly lost ten pounds.. And now, though I've not done anything much different, its going in the othe direction again and i'm gaining!!!! I am so damned frustrated I don't know what to do. So here I am, back at fitness pal because I need to hear other people who may have similar stories to mine and what they did to break through. Thanks all in advance. I won't disappear this time. I promise :)

My mom lost 40 lbs, slowly started putting it back on, and was kinda beating herself up about it, Finally went back to the dr's and turns out her thyroid was all out of whack again so she needed to increase her medication, thus explaining why she was doing everything she was supposed to, but gaining instead of losing.
Maybe go get your bloodwork done and make sure your thyroid meds are still working properly?

Have you tried swimming? It is quite a workout and very easy on the joints. Many community pools (like at the Y) are kept warm for that reason. You get cardio and resistance.

I have thyroid issues, too. Once they get your levels worked out, you should be able to lose. You'll also have SO much more energy. Sometimes the levels need adjustments, which requires a trip to the endo.

Happy for you that you've committed this time and are prepared to do hard work every day and do that for a very long time. It's the only way to get rid of the fat.

    Good luck. :)
