Inclement weather and running?

What do you do when it is storming outside and you cannot run? Don't have a treadmill? Is running in place even worth the effort? Or do you just wait and make it up another day? This has happened twice in the past week or so and it's bumming me out.

Wear a hat and a running jacket and get out there. As long as it's not actually dangerous to be out (ie things flying about!) then I'll still go for my run!

Just raining, get out and run. I love to run in the rain, but yes you need a hat. If it's truly storming, I would try to make it up another day.

    Does not compute...

    Get wet.

    +1

The only "inclement weather" is 100+ and sunny. Then you wait for the sun to set.

The only weather guaranteed to stop me from running is freezing rain and thunderstorms, running in the rain or snow is actually very liberating you do, however, need to pay extra attention to making sure you're highly visible if running on the road or shared recreational paths.

That is the problem....lightning flashing big time. I run in the rain but not in storms. And from the looks of the weather radar, it's gonna be an all-nighter.

Could you try doing something else like a work out dvd? If you don't have those there's free ones on youtube. Obviously it's not the same but you might get as much enjoyment out of that as you do running and it'll help with your endurance and cardio just like running would.

No, that's a good policy to have. If you don't have any sort of cardio work out you can do at home I would say call it a rest day and make it up later in the week.

Thanks for the push, folks. I kept watching radar and found a small window so I got out there and got it done. It was a nice 35 minute run with light drizzle, which I don't melt so... lol. I could hear thunder but it was off in the distance. I kept going until it got too close for comfort. As for other workouts, I do aerobics 3 days a week and running 3 days a week. I was just bummed cuz I have become addicted to my runs. It just feels like a better workout when I run for 30 minutes than if I do an hour or more of aerobics. Anyway, turned out to be a good running day after all. :)

It's your fault LWR. You and all the other runners who are addicted. You kept talking about the great high. I tried it, now I'm hooked. It's like, I want more but don't want to overdo and come down with an injury. That would really bum me out so for now I shall stick to 3 days a week.

You're far more sensible than I was when I started running!

Only because I had more than a couple of people warn me to run one day, take a day off, repeat lol. I wanted to run everyday. Had it not been for good people on here enlightening me..well....
