Trouser blues

Argh! So I lost about a trouser size on my waist. On one hand that's great, on the other hand I can now pull down most of my trousers without actually opening them. So I was in a very good shopping town on business for the last two weeks and really, really tried to find new trousers - and left empty-handed.
Sure, one reason is that there aren't any summer trousers in the shops anymore, and it's still above 40C here for a few more months. But what really annoyed the hell out of me was that this silly skinny style is still around. There are no trousers I actually fit in. Even worse: when I found a trouser that wasn't too big on the waist and not too tight on the thighs it certainly did not fit on my calves. Please can I get back wide or flared trousers please?
In case you wonder: no I don't like jeans and I don't wear them. I prefer thinnish cotton pants or tweed in a cargo pants style or generally with widish legs.

Maybe you could try catalogs? Or a belt, lol.
The thinner leg pants are back, but they still sell wider-legged pants. LL Bean does, for sure.
I don't know if they ship to wherever you live, though.0 -
Nah, unfortunately there's not much shipping to and no catalogs where I live, and if it exists if costs about 70 USD to ship here, and the same for returns which will most likely be necessary. You know, a while ago I bought some really great, good quality formal office pants at a shop in the US and I just convinced myself to order a few more. Of course now those that I have don't fit anymore and I don't know if a size smaller will still fit on my legs *eyesroll*
I'll do a (hated) mall tour here once I convince myself to it, but despite the hot weather shops will only have winter clothes, as in Europe, and the same selection of tight-calve or generally skinny trousers. And jeans.0 -
Oh yes, I'm using belts now. It just looks ridiculous with so much spare material on the waist. Plus it doesn't tighten the trousers on my butt
Btw, I still had one wonderful, thin cargopant that I bought years ago at a too small size. I wore it at an outdoor event last weekend, slipped on some mud in a forest and fell on a dead tree branch. Trouser ripped beyond repair, butt bruised *sigh* That was a stupid idea0 -
I know the problem of saggy clothes well!
If you're going to lose a lot of weight, try wearing the old ones through two sizes, if you can. Replacing get real expensive!0 -
I'm with you, I get that whatever is on style must be on store but do they have to get rid of everything else a regular person wants? I just purchased new pants for work and could not find anything other than skinny pants. Then I had to buy flats since they look ridiculous with tennis shoes. They fit me but I don't like it, rather have a boot cut. It's really annoying.0

I'm not buying any clothes until I get a lot smaller. I think men's fashion is going through a pretty awful time at the minute. Only babies look good in onesies.0

By the way I went to every freaking store: JCpenney, Macy's, Old Navy, Forever 21, and even looked online. I can't wear jeans to work and also not a place to have work style pants, so anything confortable was completed glued to my ankle0

I know what you mean! I used to have a couple of work pants from Inwear (I don't think they exist outside Europe). Great fit, good material. But their latest collection is ankle-tight as well. it looks so ridiculous. Last week I got so desperate with trousers that I also started looking at male short sizes, but having a bulge on your trousers also looks a bit funny
Weight-wise I'm almost where I want to be. It was only a small weight loss, really. But I didn't think it was so difficult to find new trousers!
I did buy a few new tops and a long skirt thought, and some sneakers.0
