I've made a start

I never posted an introduction, but here I am. I've enjoyed reading and looking at the posts and pictures of all of you since I joined in October. Now it's time to say hello, and I've made a start!
- I joined a gym, for the first time in my life and took a few personal training sessions.
- Yesterday I went back to the gym for the first time in a week after suffering through a nasty cold, and still feeling low in energy, but I managed to run 1km out of my 4.5 on the treadmill, in three bouts with 2 min walking between them, the longest being 3 min (400m). That's not much, but more than I could do since, well, high school or so.
- The scales I use at the gym (I still don't own any of my own, and as I'm preparing a major house move, won't buy any) showed 90kg (198.5 lbs) yesterday, which means 10 kg lost, and back under the 200 lbs mark!
- None of my current jeans fits any more, and I've shrunk back into a set of previously very tight shirts.
Still, the weight I'm at now is what I would have said I weigh had anyone asked, and shamefully. I've been at this weight point a few times in the last 6 years, but never significantly below. My goals are modest -- getting into the "overweight" category, somewhere in the middle, and re-assessing, but mostly getting fitter, being able to do a 10 mile hilly hike and participating in physical activities.
I came to MFP because I was looking for an app to record *exercise* (well, look at the name of the site/iPhone app), but knew that a food database and journal was just the ticket. The first time I consciously lost weight was as a young teen, but scribbling all I ate over family meals into a little notebook.
