A HRM in that setting is just a tool but one that needs careful use. A number on HRM does not mean a kid is actually performing well or poorly ... or that they are slacking or participating fully. To assess that level of effort requires context which I doubt many schools will go through the effort of determining.0

I'm thinking it's a matter just to get kids 'performing' ... getting them to exercise, getting their heart rate elevated..i think it's a great idea.. turning gym class more towards personal fitness with less emphasis on playing 'games.' not that games won't do this, but for sedentary kids, standing on the sidelines while accomplished kids play real basketball isn't helping them at all.0
