Trying to live Low Carb, but carbs are everywhere!!

So I've been struggling for months trying to live low carb or almost no carb because I know carbs cause fat to be stored in your belly. I eat only whole wheat, but it seems like after I check my nutrition chart the carbs are always 50 or more percent of my meals for the day. I mean should I disregard it if I'm eating whole wheat, quinoa, granola, oatmeal, yogurt stuff like that? Because you aren't going to be watching me chow down on fried foods or white sub sandwiches. I feel like the only successful way to avoid it is to buy and just eat atkins foods/beverages. I just want to know if I should stop being discouraged since all the carbs I'm eating are healthy? Even fruit has a lot of carbs! And I know that's not unhealthy!

Don't buy Atkins food. It's not worth it. You can eat low carb. Do you supplement the carbs with fat? If not, you need to do that. FULL FAT yogurt, cheeses, dairy in general. Here's a website with a list of food ideal for low carb. This might help you out.

And that's why it isn't sustainable.
Learn moderation and you won't have to give up carbs.0 -
Just saw a recipe on here for something called Oopsie Bread. It has three ingredients..eggs, cream cheese, and cream of tartar. Good low carb option for you maybe. Here's a link to a recipe if you want it...http://babygranny.blog.com/2012/01/29/oopsie-bread-nearly-no-carb-and-gluten-free/0

...I know carbs cause fat to be stored in your belly.
No, they don't.0 -
moderation is key...that's what I believe to....I usually just eat smaller amounts of the things that are higher in carbs and more things like cheese, yogurt, meat and eggs, oh and beer too ....ha....it is a challenge but it will eventually work out!0

If your goal is weight loss, it doesn't matter what you eat as long as you're at a caloric deficit.0

There is no reason to go low-carb unless you have certain medical conditions. My personal opinion… that idea that carbs cause fat to be stored is a bunch of BS. It's a calorie surplus over time that causes fat to be stored. Yes, some carbs have a lot of calories… but that makes a case for moderation, not cutting them out. I've lost 64 pounds so far and carbs are about 50% of my diet as well. If you choose to go low-carb… it can work for weight loss if you combine a calorie deficit with it and lots of people feel better when they limit their carbs. But if you are operating on the assumption that a low-carb diet is the only way to lose weight or to eat healthy… you are wrong. Carbs can absolutely be part of a healthy diet that also helps you lose weight. Your choice of complex carbs (whole grains, fruit) is a good thing. The key is you need to find a diet (meaning a way of eating) that fits with your lifestyle, your medical conditions (if applicable), your preferences, and yes, even your morals… one that you can continue for essentially the rest of your life. Some people choose low-carb because they find that it fits their life the best. And certainly… if that's what you find as well… GO FOR IT! You won't be alone. But you will have to get creative sometimes with your recipes and you may find that there will be foods that you have to eliminate or drastically reduce. But don't feel like you *have* to choose that approach because it's the best or the only way to lose weight or eat healthy. If it's your choice… fine. But don't demonize carbs… it's that kind of thinking that leads to eating disorders.0

It can be and is easily sustainable when you educate yourself and make it a lifestyle.
I know people who have been doing it for many years. i have only been doing it for a few years and find it not only easy but enjoyable. if I ever choose to change, it will certainly not be because it was hard or unsustainable.0 -

I'm not sure why you are eating low carb (choice vs have to) but I eat lower carb (40%). Low carb is not necessary for weight loss but many women find lower carbs (not low carb) help with weight loss and maintenance. There are a lot of low carb options without resorting to the highly processed Atkins products. Highly processed foods tend to be high carb so avoid them. Choose lower carb fruits and and increase vegetables. Cottage cheese is lower carb than yogurt but Greek yogurt is high in protein.0 -
I have been low carb for over a month now. I went in stages tho. I cut bread out a year agp since my fiancee didnt eat it and we had a tight budget. I cut out dairy completely as I am very sensitive to it. Google ketogenic diet and you will find a wealth of.information and recipes for low carb way of eating. Dont be too hard on yourself. Slow and steady wins the race. Maybe limit your carbs just a little right ow, adding in healthy fats like.coconut oil, olive oil, and avocados can help keep you full. Meet this goal for a month then drop it a little bit again. Just a suggestion. I feel great making the switch. Ive lost 6lbs since I started, my clothes are fitting better and I feel great! Research your.options and do.what feels best to you. Friend me if you want! Good luck!0
