I underate today—should I make up the calories?

I'm currently maintaining my weight, as directed by my doctor. I have an iffy history of losing weight and have been trying to reach my minimums as strictly as possible for a while now. I accidentally underate quite a bit today, and I was wondering if I should make up for all or some of those calories tomorrow? Doing so would send me over my 'budget' for that day, but only because I'm eating today's calories later than they should've been. Is this the right approach?

If you chose to eat them today or save them for tomorrow or distribute them across the next few days, it doesn't really matter. Timing doesn't end up mattering, so if you were over one day and under the next, it's the same result as long as you get the same total over a longer period of time, say, a week. I prefer to look at the week as a unit and look at the total calories instead of worrying about being exact every day. Do whatever you think will work best for you.

Yes, it all evens out. I have high and low days, with higher days typically on the weekends, and use a weekly average. The app has an area where you can view your weekly average which makes this easy.

If you're under doctors care to eat at maintenance how did you 'accidentally' not eat enough?

I'm not under constant supervision by a doctor to maintain my weight; I've just been assigned a number of calories to eat every day. I've been moving into college all weekend, making me very busy, so getting my minimums in was difficult today.
