 what is your new years resolution. is it the same as the last few years?
do you honestly think your going to stick with it?
did you stick with last years resolution?

. last year mine was to lose weight but that did not happen. But losing weight is not well to me any way considered a life changing event. because its not going to stay gone unless i start a healthy lifestyle. this year my resolutions is to become more healthy. so this year
in order for me to be healthy i need to lose weight BUT, that also means healthier drinks and foods with out having to force it. exercising more. being more active, becoming more mentally happy and break free from this anxiety i have with some mild depression.
right now i may be healthy inside my body..... as in no high blood pressure. no high cholesterol no diabetes. or stuff like that. im headed for it with the way i am eating and with my weight.

im tired of trying to lose weight! it never happens because i was more concerned with LOSING than i was with becoming healthy!....... i was so pissed when the scale wouldnt move because losing weight was more import than being healthy. which made it very hard to stick with...... this year im very serious ( even tho i was last year but my out look was losing not becoming healthy) not all skinny people are healthy! there are some ppl who have a perfect BMI. but they are in worse condition than i am. im very lucky though.
this year forget the f***cking weight loss.

  • Last year my new year's resolution was to take off 100 pounds total.. I did lose weight, almost half of my goal. Every single year my new years resolution is to lose weight.. and usually I would fail because I would set my expectations way too high and then when I didnt show the progress I expected on the scale after a few weeks, I would fizzle out. My life has had some pretty life-changing stuff going on, and I think that has helped me on my journey. I have learned that even if I don't do perfect each day, that i did better than I would've had I not paid any attention to eating/exercise. No one is perfect, and life definately isn't perfect..

Yes, you have to see it as a lifestyle change and not at all the work it is going to take to get there. I think that as long as you make better choices every single day, you're going to get to your goal eventually. Eventually is better than never getting there.. so we can't be too hard on ourselves when we dont accomplish all we set out to, know where you want to eventually be, but also look at changes and progress you have made so far, along your journey to good health! Best of luck to everyone in the new year!

To meet my goal weight, but not only that, but to get FIT! Sure I could meet my goal weight and still be flabby. So my resolution is to workout atleast 5 days a week. NO excuses and to keep off the weight! I lost 45 last last year/early this year and gained almost all of it back! Not this time!

I have never made a New Year's resolution in my life. I have a few this year, though. Firstly, to run a 5k, then a 10k, then the Windsor half marathon. Also, to lose my belly chubb and to stay off the scale as much as possible.

Kudos to you for making health your priority. I find that scale weight is not always the best indicator of an increase in one's health. Sure, if one is overweight, they should consider loosing some weight. But, it may help to keep a journal how your progress is going.

I only suggest this because for me, if I have a big goal like "lose 5 pounds" or "get healthier" I get side tracked. I've found that making smaller more specific goals that are attainable help me to stay motivated. Like right now, I am working on getting better at doing push ups. It's taken me years to get were I am at, but I started with "do one push up properly". From there, I just made the goal that next time, I'd try to do1-2 more than the last time. Sometimes having a bunch of small, specific successes can really boost one's morale.

    And to answer your OP:

I really, really want to learn how to swim well. I took lessons as a kid, but I never stuck with it. I saw a Navy SEAL swim demonstration on youtube the other day and I was so inspired by the way the instructor made it look so easy. I told my husband that I want private lessons for my birthday in March too.

I know that it will take a lot of hard work to get be that strong and coordinated in the water, but I love a good challenge. And since my kid is young and loves to swim, I'd love to be able to go swimming as a family.
