Middle Of Nowhere Canda - Low Carb - Runtastic

Hello everyone!

I'm new to MFP... well, not new according to my stats. Apparently I joined 41 months ago and didn't do anything. I'm also probably about 30lbs heavier than I was then. :( And to think I thought I need to lose weight then...

I used to be so active, back when I used to live in the hub of healthy living Vancouver, BC. It's been nothing but downhill since I moved to Manitoba. Winters are so long and SO cold. Everything is so far away (gym, pool etc.) and I just can't seem to find any motivation to run on the treadmill in my basement. And then add into this mix that there's perogies, cabbage rolls and dainties EVERYWHERE!! I didn't even know 'dainty' meant a dessert till moving here!!!

So, now a bit about me. I got married to a great guy this spring and have two teenage step kids and one 7year old girl of my own. I subscribe to the low carb lifestyle (or at least try) and I know it's what works for me. I used to run and would like to get back into it. I am 5'5" and 180-190lbs and would like to lose 60lbs (although right now I'd be happy with 20!!).

If you can relate to any of the above and are looking for some virtual friends to help you reach your goals, please add me!

Also, if you use Runtastic I could really use some friends there too!! https://www.runtastic.com/en/users/linnea-marohn

I hear ya! I live in Wyoming at 7200 feet (2195 m) and winter is looooong here. It makes running, my preferred quick workout method, tough. Do you have a gym with an indoor track you can go to? I find running on a track so much easier / less boring than on a stupid treadmill. I also try to eat mostly low-carb, except my beloved red wine lol. Starting up the South Beach Diet on Monday... have you tried that? It's really pretty effective and puts a lot of emphasis on veggies, lean protein, and healthy fats. No wine though - tragic. Anyway, I'll add you!
