When making my own butter I would like to use the buttermilk "byproduct" to make my own whey protein powder.

Does anybody have a procedure that you could share ?

IMHO, you'd have to dehydrate a LOT of whey to get much protein powder. Here's a link to someone who says they do it: http://discourse.soylent.me/t/make-your-own-whey-powder/199

Thanks, exactly what i was looking for.

i agree on the quantity but want to do it anyhow rather then pouring it down the drain.

    Waste not want not.

Anybody have any other uses for the buttermilk other then just drinking it ?

Yes, you can substitute it with any baking that requires milk.

If the protein powder doesn't work out for you...

I use the drained off whey from when I make yogurt cheese for pancakes... I figure it's not buttermilk, but it still will make good pancakes.

You can also use buttermilk and greek yogurt to make your own ranch and bleu cheese dressing or dips.

Use buttermilk as a marinade for chicken. DELISH.

Also cats and dogs like buttermilk.

Or you can just put your store bought protein powder in it and consume it that way....

    Some fantastic ideas !!

Now I might have to make a few batches to give to friends just so I have more left over buttermilk.
