New Season...new difficulties?

As Labor Day has come and gone we are getting closer to the Fall season. Does anyone find it more difficult to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle during this upcoming season? As summer allows for numerous ways to stay healthy (fresh fruits & vegetables and plenty of nice weather outside), it may be more difficult during these upcoming months. Hopefully we can share great ways to stay healthy during this time.

To name a few:
1. Fresh, homemade soups!
2. Walks outside to look at the changing foliage

I actually find fall a pretty easy season. The foods change, but there are still lots of good fresh options, and the weather is actually more ideal for outside exercise where I live. Winter is the killer.

Well, I always have lots of veggies, regardless of the season, never been into salads. I love brussels sprouts too, which is useful as they have just started coming back into the shops here, lol.

That said, I find the colder seasons more difficult, with the approach of Xmas, as I get tempted by all the goodies that come into the shops early, like mince pies, xmas chocolate, the xmas themed drinks and the such. I am hoping to minimise that this year by just having a meal or treat out once a week and not bringing stuff home.

If I were a good cook, I would be in heaven as I love stews and casseroles.

It is a good time to get into baked potatoes and baked apples and the like.
    Lots of healthy, warming foods.

Fresh berries are available all year, plus the fall/winter squashes are coming in, apples, pears, California citrus, sweet potatoes - still plenty of good options in the cooler months.

And for me, I can't wait for the cooler temps - I'm in central California and am sick and tired of the high temps that trap me inside for so many summer months! I can't wait to be able to run after sunrise or walk my dog in the middle of the day!

I love the cooler months because I LOVE soups! This will be my first fall using MFP so I'm hoping some of my friends share some yummy soup recipes with me (:

Seasons don't really matter to me food and fitness wise. I workout at home, and I use frozen fruit because I make smoothies, and it's cheaper. I've never had an issue getting spinach for my smoothies either.

My issue with the fall/winter season is I work at a concert hall, and this is the time when we get crazy busy. This is my first time doing this job and being on MFP. I just have to make sure that I plan my meals accordingly, because I do not want to fall back on quick (i.e. fast food) meals.

Fall and winter are easy for me. Summer? Forget about any kind of deficit. I definitely do a lot more eating and drinking in the warmer months.

The only seasons in Texas are warm, and Holy Hades it's HOT!!! With a 2 week segue between these periods known as "Spring" and "Fall". For me it's actually easier to stick with it when it cools off because then I'm able to run when the sun is still up and do more activities outside. The downside is holiday food but my family is weird and we always make Thai/Korean cuisines for the holidays anyway so it's not so bad. Just make room for the holiday meals and you should be fine!

Summer/Fall/Spring doesn't really change my eating or exercise schedule. I don't have a gym membership, so I work out at home or outside (jogging mostly), so milder weather doesn't bug me. I love fall hikes with the pretty colours.

Winter on the other hand has all sort of challenges; I never want to exercise, it's cold out so I want to stay on the couch under blankets all day, and I drink things that I wouldn't in any other season - like hot chocolate. Winter is probably the hardest season for me to manage weight loss. If I manage to maintain during it I'm happy haha

^ This! And the dark. It's dark when I get up. It's dark when I get out of work. Ugh. I just have to remember what I want to look and feel like when the season breaks and I wander bleary-eyed out of my cave. I still usually end up putting on a few pounds, though :ohwell:

Agreed. I need to try one of those special light things.
