Feeling Very Nauseous After Workout

Today was my first time working with a personal trainer. I am very unfit and about 20-25 pounds overweight. I am eighteen years old. We worked for thirty minutes, doing various exercises. About fifteen minutes in, I began to feel very ill. It was hard to breathe and my stomach was upset. By the time we finished, I still had difficulty breathing and felt very close to vomiting. Thirty-five minutes later, and I still feel like throwing up. I feel awful. Why is this happening?

Could be a variety of reasons; pushed yourself too hard too quickly, blood sugar was low, you were dehydrated, you have a stomach bug that decided to rear its head at the most inconvenient and unlikely time...

I would recommend telling your PT, and taking it slower next time. If you are unfit and not used to the exercise, you should ease into it. People don't just run a marathon, they work their way up. Same thing should happen when beginning a new fitness routine!

Thank you, Mission. I did eat a very heavy meal about 2-3 hours beforehand; do you think that could have had something to do with it?

I personally don't have issues with working out hours after eating. Most likely it was overexertion; I tend to get nauseous and my tachycardia flares up when I push myself way too hard too quickly. I'd focus on the workout first, and see about slowing things down to see if that resolves the problem first.

But do make sure you are fueled for your workout beforehand!
