So we had an early Christmas party at our house yesterday. Now we have LOTS of leftovers, crackers, potatoes, stuffing, candy, bars, peanut butter balls, cookies, pie, you get the idea. It needs to go! The cookies and bars i probably can take to work and get rid of fast enough, and my husband can stand to eat all the potatoes and stuffing but until then im going nuts!

how do you control yourself? i think i need a lock on the refrigerator! lol any suggestions?

Pack it into meal size portions and freeze it. If you don't want to do that throw it away.

Easy solution (and good deed to boot!)

    Elf your neighbors.

Go get some pretty, disposable chinette and load those plates up with goodies! Ding dong ditch 'em around the neighborhood. Problem solved. Everyone benefits.

I have NO self control with cookies. I would have to dump water on them and throw them out-all the sweets and temptations. The people at work don't NEED them either, most probably want to loose a few pounds, too. Don't worry about wasting food. I went on a cookie binge last week when I was 'baking cookies for others"-ate way too much dough and cookies, and it threw me off for most of the week!! I wasn't posting regularly, and didn't loose weight, and the cookies started it all. RESTIST RESIST RESIST!

I agree with DrBorkBork. I would pack it up and send it off to the neighbors as well. I am ALWAYS doing that, as I have a single older man living next door and a wonderful elderly neighbor as well. They appreciate the real food, and we have lots of kids in our neighborhood that I send cookies over for. I was recently at a big party and ended up with lots of food, and I have already shipped it off between neighbors and family...

Pawn them off on close loved ones or I just toss stuff (although this sounds like wayyy to much to throw away), I feel a bit bad but I'd feel way worse if I ate it.

I am on the Board of an organization that has a Cookie Fundraiser. That is why I recently joined MFP! I couldn't stop sampling the goods. Once the reality check hit, I took most to work and kept the rest locked in my car until I could "elf" them to family/friends.

I have all our cookies boxed up for my family. If I ate any of them, I would leave empty spaces in the boxes. :) I wish you'd mail me some of those peanutbutter balls, though.

I am in this EXACT same predicament right now!!!! Ughhhh. I thought I could handle the holidays...no problem I said, I will bake every one else goodies and not touch, lesson learned.

    Hind sight is 20/20

I would just throw it all away!! I know we shouldn't waste food, there are starving kids in ______, all those things we heard growing up but really none of us need the junk just throw it away.

I am delaying my cookie baking until the day before our party (Christmas Eve). Then I'm going to have my girls bake with me -- I'm a sneaky eater, and I don't overindulge when people are watching! And then I'll have little goody bags set out to fill up as the guests leave so they can take things with them.

As for throwing things away -- I am finally over the guilt on that one. I just suddenly realized one day that I am not interested in viewing myself as a stand-in for a garbage can. It's no less wasteful to eat what you don't want (esp. since I tend to eat even MORE when I feel awful because I've binged -- so technically, I waste LESS food if I never let myself get started!).

All that being said, I still had a very binge-y weekend, even without cookies! I think I'm stressed out about how I'm going to handle the holidays (because I am always so horrible about it), so it's like I'm pre-sabotaging myself. I hate it!
