Hi guys!! My name is Meg and I'm brand new to the site! ![ ](https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I'm looking to meet people and start up a network of support so that I'll stick to my plan of getting closer to my ideal weight!!
In July of 2009 I weighed 130 pounds. I got very sick and had to start taking dozens of medications and couldn't exercise much...in just over a year, I put on 80 pounds.
I used to be very active, and my amazing boyfriend (who fell in love with me when I weighed about 120) is extremely athletic. He's never once said a negative thing about my body, even as I gained 10, 20, 30, 50, 80 pounds. He just sticks by my side and tells me how beautiful I am.
I want to be able to keep up with him, hike and run the way we used to do without shortness of breath and pain from carrying my heavy body. I also want him to be proud of me...I know he is no matter what, but I need to believe it for myself! I want my body and my self-esteem back! I want to own my body instead of standing awkwardly in shame when he introduces me to his friends and family. I work for a university meeting new students and giving lots of speeches and presentations and attending formal dances and business lunches--I want to feel good about myself and project confidence!
I can't exercise heavily because of my illnesses, but I still want to do the best I can! I'm terrified of disappointing myself again, so all the support you can offer would mean the world to me!
Thanks so much guys, I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your amazing stories!!

Welcome! MFP is honestly amazing! Its wonderful to have a network of like-minded people, in the sense that weight loss and health are the ultimate goal. Because let's face it...the friends and family in our everyday lives, don't always understand what it is like to have this as a daily struggle.
But don't worry about "disappointing" yourself! You have a whole group of people to lean on. I learned a long time ago that you have to keep it positive ALL the time! Even when it seems hard, because your body reacts accordingly. U can do this! I'm glad you joined the 40lb challenge! I can't wait!0 -
Thanks, me too!! I can't even tell you how excited I am...I hope that if I'm holding myself accountable to my friends on here, it'll be so much easier to say "no thanks" when I get offered scrumptious-looking treats all day long at work! We always get the leftover fruit and cookie trays from orientations...I'm such a sucker for them! Haha. But from now on I'm watching myself closely...I think the phone app is the most amazing thing ever! I'm going to add my food AS SOON as I eat it...or maybe even before so that I don't overeat!
I love how positive and kind everyone is here...I'm sick of judgment and negativity, and I'm ready to pull myself up out of my self-pity and make a change!!

Welcome...I've made a promise to myself to regularly drop by the introduce yourself boards and say hello to the new faces since everyone was so kind to me when I joined a week ago. Honestly, I've been on alot of other boards and there is no heavy handed, do this do that here. Just a load of encouraging folks, welcoming and down to Earth folks who are all on a journey to healthy!0

Welcome to the boards! MFP can help YOU change your life. Allow yourself time to learn and make mistakes. It doesn't happen overnight and I am still a work in progress. MFP is about awareness... no strict diets, restrictions, or overnight gimmics. It can help do as much or as little as you put in the effort. Time is going to pass regardless- I'm glad you made the choice to be in control of your future! What an amazing accomplishment already! We are all here cheering you on!0
