First time in forums

I've been giving this a try for a few weeks and thought maybe it would be easier if I joined in on the conversations in the forums. I'm 30 with an extremely sedentary job and tight schedule after work. As I'm outgrowing my clothes, I was faced with the decision to either really make an effort to lose weight and get healthy or to buy a new wardrobe. I decided to go for making healthier eating choices.

Doing this on my own is getting tough so wanted to join the forums to make friends, read tips, and get encouragement. I've been trying the C25K and swimming for exercise and counting calories to keep an eye on what I'm eating. My weight has rapidly gone up since I started making better decisions these last few weeks. Not sure why, but I'm just going to keep at it. I've been making baby steps, replacing my morning donut with a lean protein shake, and choosing better options if I eat out. I've reduced snacking and have switched to healthier snack options. I've increased my water intake and have nearly gotten rid of all soda.

Would love to make friends and share experiences here and I'm very open to all tips.

  • I've only been using MFP for a few weeks now, and only in the forums for about a week.

Add me if you want. I'm an active user.

    Good luck on your journey!

ive been on mfp on and off for a couple months now. when i first started dieting and exercise i gained a little weight too, but this is common due to inflammation and water retention. to be honest i haven't technically lost very much weight in 21/2 months only 2 pounds crazy right, but i definitely lost inches. ive been exercising pretty regularly and not just cardio weight training too, my body has gained some muscle an toned. but i recently reduced my calories so we will see if that makes a difference. i also have a desk job i stit 99.9 percent of the time so i remember that before i go to the gym and im tired and dreading it. i tell myself hey there are people all over the world who have to walk miles everyday just to get by, so i can power through one measly hour a day.
