runners, help! HM training & injury

so i'm one month out from my second half marathon and experiencing pain in my right foot, outer side by the pinkie toe. my tuesday run was fine, pain came about halfway through the day and only hurts when i'm walking. took wednesday off from any exercise and iced it, felt ok during the day. mile and a half into my 5miler today and it was really hurting. i debated pushing through v. listening to body and ultimately decided to stop at 2m.

i'm scheduled to run 10 this weekend and i don't know what to do! foot doesn't hurt at all when i'm just sitting down. i've probed and poked it, trying to find a sore spot and that doesn't hurt either. it's just walking/running.

anyone had anything similar? i feel like it's a muscle thing and i should just power through and do 10 this weekend. it's too close to cut down long runs, in my mind. any thoughts or advice appreciated!

Have heard from friends who were injured and stopped running 3 weeks before a race to recover, did nothing but rest for the 3 weeks, and ended up PRing after healing...

If the 13 miles isn't too far above what you've done on prior runs (note that some half plans only go up to 10 miles pre-race), I think you might be better off resting, doing nothing, running once you feel back to 95% after a week or two off, and then doing the race.

Are your shoes old? I get phantom pains in my feet, hips and back when my shoes are getting to the end of their life!

I would try taking a full week off, and then see how it feels.
As mentioned above, if your shoes have a lot of miles on them it may be time for new ones.
If rest and shoes don't help, it may be worth seeing a doctor.
