Is anyone else exercise intolerant? I have three autoimmune diseases and a diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome. Before I got sick I was extremely active. Swam, skied, gym but more important am the kind of person who never sat still. And I could eat anything and NEVER put a lb on. The woman other women (and some men) hated. Had to quit work and go on disability. And the weight gain came. Lost it once at WW, put it back on. Didn't understand the concept. Lost it again and had kept it off ten years. But I've been on two meds that are notorious for weight gain. The first eight months no weight gain but then in six weeks, ten lbs. Saw doctor yesterday and he said he wasn't surprised I hadn't gained more and showed me this website. He gave me a calorie count to use.

Only those really close to me and a few of my doctors believed me re being exercise intolerant. Until I failed a specific invasive test that proves I'm now able to do more daily activities but still do too much and end up paying for it. Also, the test I failed does have treatment but it's trial and error.

So losing weight is MUCH harder. Ten lbs. might not seem like much but I'm a short, very petite woman. My clothes are still tight with only eight lbs to go.

It doesn't help that I still have the appetite I had before. What does help is I know a lot about food; I edited a nutrition column years ago.

  • I have some autonomic problems and I understand what you mean haha. My circulation is terrible and my heart rate is an issue. It's so hard for me to exercise, I've put on some weight from it. I can't seem to lose it either. I'm young, so this is all new to me. I try my best though. Lol good luck!
