Is there a way that you can guess how many calories typical mexican meats have?
For example: Carne Enchilada, Cecina, Carne Asada, Bistek , etc...

Hola!
For meats like carne asada, bistek and cecina, given that they are not marinated in tons of oils and sugars, can be counted like steak and pork chops (in ounces or grams). That's how my husband calculates them. because really, it's mostly spice. And he calculates the rest of the ingredients separately. Pineapple, tomato, onion, orange juice (for marinate), tortilla, etc. As far as cecina, he logs it as ham/ prosciutto (in ounces or grams).
Hope this helps.0 -

I've always had this problem with spanish grocery stores. I'd like to buy their meat because it's cheaper, but I have no idea what type of meat it is.
They use pretty general terms to describe the steak so you never know exactly what cut it is.
And they don't know English so you can't ask them to tell you what it's called in English.
If you want to be more accurate then just buy it at American grocery stores when it's on sale. You'll know exactly what cut you're buying, plus there's a nutrition label on it. That's what I do.. then the rest of my shopping (chicken, fruits, veggies, etc) I do at the spanish grocery because it's cheaper.0 -

Asking what kind of cut it is, is no problem for me, as i'm trilangual
I am too.
But they don't know what it's called in English, which is the problem lol. Every time I'd ask como se llama este corte de carne en ingles, I'd get a no se. But hey you might have better luck.0 -
Ask them what its called in spanish and they'll probably be able to tell you.0

Yea it's just the spanish stores here aren't just Mexican. They are a mix of everything so it gets confusing. Asking the spanish name of meat might get you a different answer depending on who you ask. Ask a Mexican, Dominican, and a Chapin something and you'll probably get a different name.
Hell I've had that problem with spanish friends a lot. We're trying to get some meat for a cookout or something and they tell me go get this, but I don't know what the hell they're talking about because we use a different name.
I'll save myself the hassle and buy my cuts in English haha.0 -
