What does BUMP mean?

I see that when people do posts. Instead of saying anything that just put "BUMP."

just bumping it higher up in the forum so its back near the top normally or so more will notice it x0

Since on the boards, posts with the most recent comments appear first, people "BUMP" a post that hasn't had any activity on it in a while, so it will be promoted to the top and more people will see it.0

I thought people bump it so it appears on their topics and they can easily return to it. But also moving it back to the top of the message board makes sense too.0

MFP's actually really tame for a forum BBS. I've seen BB's for games that have so many acronyms you can't even read them without a net to english translation website (they actually have those).0
