I'm very proud of all mfp friends for the hard work you all are doing to achieve your goals!. I read everyone's status and I see the crazy cals everyone is burning and I can't help but wonder how I let myself get so far off track. I have been logging on the website everyday ( almost 90 days in a row now) and yet I can't remember the last time I logged my calories or dragged my lily white butt to the gym. Christmas is approaching and along with the hustle and bustle of the holidays come the added stress of turning down the yummy treats. For me its salty rather than sweets but when it boils down to unhealthy choices it doesn't really matter what the poison of choice is. I also recently got engaged( wow.... that still sounds wierd!) and I want to be a hot and sexy bride instead of a hippo in a white dress panting her way down the aisle! I am writing this little pity story in the hopes it will motivate me, and perhaps others who are feeling the same way, to get off the couch, stop complaining and get back on track! Although I have had some stress over the past few months which I know have been the culprit of my downslide, I also have alot to be thankful for. I have a wonderful man who thinks I am the most beautiful woman in the world and friends and family I can count on. Our health is a privledge and we owe it to ourselves to live our lives to the fullest and experience as many new things as possible. I already have high blood pressure and because of my lack of motivation these past few months I have also noticed a decline in my self esteem. My pledge now is to get my butt back to the gym, start to be accountable ( yet again) for my food choices and to be the sexiest and happiest and healthiest bride on the planet!!

Now that I have griped ( thanks for reading by the way..) I would like to know how some of you who may have experienced a rut got out of it and put yourself back on track. What did you do? I seriously need the motivation.

Best of luck to everyone. I hope you all have a safe and wonderful Christms and New Year!

I found myself in a rut a year ago. After losing 30 pounds, I put 20 of it back on. After looking at a picture my mom had taken of my brother and I on Christmas, I saw the "old" me starting to reappear. It scared me and made me mad, so I decided at that moment to take charge. I set a goal of hiking Half Dome in June of 2011 for my birthday and told all of my family and friends I was doing it. This way, I didn't have a choice BUT to work out and get back into shape. Since then, I've lost all the weight I had gained back (and then some), have gone down 3 dress sizes, and am moving closer to getting back into shape. I still have a long way to go, but I know now I don't have a choice. For me, once I say I'm going to do something I do it, especially if I told everyone I know about it!
So, my advice to you is to let your family and friends know what your plans are. They (should be) your support system. Not only will they encourage you and help you fight off the demons that appear and try to sabotage things, but hopefully the thought of facing them if (and that's a big IF) you ever decide to throw in the towel will be enought to get you back on track.
You can do this!! Good luck!

lots of ups and downs for me. I find that making one small change and commiting to it really gets the ball rolling again. last winter, when I got really sick I decided I would commit to doing 20 minutes per day on my bike, and it didn't even have to be all at once. this time, I started slipping after halloween, and I've decided to focus on eating a variety of vegetables and taking my proper vitamins to help feel better. I've also not been tracking my exercise because I'm focussed on getting my entire house clean and organized, I'm planning to get back to regular exercise the day after Christmas.

I know you will be a beautiful bride!! I wish the two of you all the best!! love you!
