I'm sorry you are having such a rough time. Losing weight is tough which is something I'm learning. Just try and stay strong, stay focused on your goals. I think the elipical and walking dvd is a great idea. Try not to be too down on yourself. You know what you want, go for it! You can do it!0

Weight loss starts in the kitchen. Are you tracking your food?? Weighing and measuring everything?0

For your sake and your children's sake, start by being more active with them!! Include your kids, they can be great motivators. Walk with them to the park, then don't sit on the bench while they play.. Play with them. Throw a ball, run, jump, do chin ups on the monkey bars.....then it is not an exercise program, but fun! Do you have bicycles? A swimming pool? Remember, your attitudes about food and exercise are imprinting on them. Here is a chance to change 3 lives!! I am 55 and do weight classes with my daughter who is 24. My 26 year old daughter and I do 5 k runs together. This started when they were little, because i did active stuff with them. You don't need a gym...just get them out and do something.0

My suggestion is to NOT try to exercise yourself slimmer. Instead, first concentrate on eating less food so that you lose weight. Any exercise you do is great, but exercise will not give you the results that eating less will. As you begin to lose weight you will probably be motivated to move more and moving more will allow you to eat a tiny bit more calories each day while still losing.
Be sure to input your stats into MFP and let the program set a calorie goal for you. Then follow that calorie goal every day. Buy a food scale and weigh your foods. Start there.
You can lose weight. When you begin to lose you will feel better and you will likely feel better about yourself. Don't focus on how much you need to lose yet. Just think about losing 10 pounds for now. When you start losing and realize that it can be done, you will become motivated to lose more.
Also, if you find you are hungry eating the calories that MFP suggests in order to lose 2 pounds a week, then CHANGE the goal to 1.5 pounds a week or even 1 pound. This is much more manageable than eating too small amount which results in a binge and consumption of lots of calories that can sabotage all the hard work you did that week.
These are just my suggestions of course. You can do whatever works best for you.0 -

I have 4 kids: ages 12, 10, 5, and 3. I play with them outside when I can. When I can't I do a video. The elliptical is hard, so do what you can and eventually you will be able to do more. Just add another min on it every day until you get where you want to be. The Mile-walk videos are good, too.
I know this seems hard right now. Track your food, keep your calorie deficit, and do your desired workout at least 3/times a week. It will become an easy habit. Part of your life. In a week it will be easier. In 2, it will be easier still. You CAN do this! You will be happier and a better mother, too.
Best wishes. :flowerforyou:0 -
Exercise is all good, but what's more important is what you put in your body more-so than what you do with it.
With kids who are so young (and congratulations!!), what you eat should be more of the focus than exercise right now. The exercise won't be worth much if you don't change your eating habits.
I am 5'4, and about 288 right now. I wear a fitbit and try to do better, but not setting any land records. When I first started wearing it, I was lucky to get in 500-800 steps. Now hitting 2000 steps isn't all that hard. Plus, it syncs with MFP so you can make sure you're burning more than you're eating. Do that, and you'll lose. It's guaranteed. I've been doing this long enough that the data doesn't lie.0 -
Wow, your kids are so young! If your child is only 4 months, don't be discouraged. Your body is still hormonally changing after the baby. Give yourself a pat on the back for starting to do something for yourself. Getting enough rest is really important, too. So get out the stroller and get outside!!0

This (above) is very very true. It's all bout what we eat day in and day out.
Good luck to you; you can do this. Do it for you.0 -

I think I would leave the Jillian video alone for now. If you really want to get moving, try the elliptical, or the walking video (Leslie Sansone has good low-impact ones). Or alternate days doing them. Start with 3 days a week and increase to 4 after a few months if you feel up to it. For the elliptical I would start slow and go for 5 min on the lowest setting. If you can do more the first time, that's great, just go with how you feel, gradually adding one or two minutes at a time each week until you can work up to 30 min.
As people have said, success starts in the kitchen. Get your eating right and exercise is only a side-note. But moving more will be good for you too. As I said, take it slow, and up your level a little every week if you are ready. No need to rush the exercise, as doing too much too soon will only cause injuries and make you sore and miserable. That might make you want to quit. None of that!
Slow and steady wins the race. Keep working at it, and it will work for you. Add me as a friend, PM me and I'll respond when I get the chance. I'm not an expert, but I've lost 40 pounds and exercise regularly.
So:
Focus on eating habits. Do the walk video and elliptical on lowest setting. Alternate. Don't rush it, yet. It will save your joints. More exercises are for later after you've dropped a little weight, if you still feel the urge. It will take time to get the weight off, like it took to put it on. Good luck.! You can do it.0
