i dont have a goal per se.

I put on my goals like 4000 per week but i usualy go over that.

I have found (using my HRM) that it all depends on how hard i push myslef. lifting 3 days a week burns 900+ (60 tp 70 mins) while my cardio days usuall around 500+ (35 mins) though today i added 30 mins of yoga for an extra 170

Chief -- how do you burn 900 calories at lifting? That's amazing! The only way I get that many is by alternating cardio/ weights (on the treadmill for 10 minutes, lift for 10 minutes) etc. Just curious.

I usually aim for 500 calories burned through any means necessary! On certain days I'll ramp it up to 750 or 800 by biking to the gym, or taking a cardio class then lifting afterwards.

This week I'm actually trying to burn less (seeing if this will jumpstart some weight loss), so I'm going to aim for around 300 through a combo of yoga + exercycle.

Well at the moment i am doing the Body for life routine. Its all upper body or lower body 3 days a week and cardio 3 days a week. I think the key is i get my heart going by hitting the eliptical for 5 mins before i start.

Once going i do 5 sets of X exercise with only 1 min between sets. on the last set i go right into the secconde exercise for that body part with no rest.

3 min between body parts. then it starts over again for the next.

fairly intense and keeps the heart rate up pretty good.

i end my work out by doing this "broom stick" shoulder stretch i found to help heel my injured shoulder.

Total time on lifing days is between 60 and 70 mins and according to my HRM i burn between 1100 (first time i did this routine) and 850 (the lowest it has been) i'm guessing an average of 900 but its really more like 925.

check out EAS web site or just look up Body for life. it looks to me that the routine is the same for both men and women. (no need to buy anything from them either i didnt)

Now get out there and pump some iron.
