Hi All,
I have a question for ya...................
Today, Friday is my weigh in day for the week and this is the end of week 4. It's that time of month and this is the second one
I have had in almost four years. Something went wrong with my body, maybe being heavy, maybe my immune system being out of whack, but it finally started again and I am about 2 days into a heavy flow. Might be that losing some weight finally kicked it back into gear!? I was wondering if it would be wise to even weigh in today because of it or Am I'm setting myself up for disappointment because of water weight? Do you think I should I wait until it has finsihed? I'm not sure what to do but I was excited for it to finally be Friday, weigh in day. I don't want to throw off my weigh-in schedule either as I log it in every week on here. What do you guys think I should do? Wait or just weigh in anyway? Thanks so much ladies and Happy Happy Holidays!!!!!!!

I vote wait for the weigh in as I don't see any good in weighing in if you gain it won't feel good but some do anyway and chalk it up to PMS and figure it's bound to happen every month and your weigh ins will reflect that.
It comes down to personal choice really:flowerforyou:0 -
I'm finding that I'm all kinds of different from almost everyone on MFP. :-) I like to micro-manage myself in the sense that I weigh myself everyday. It tends to give me instant feedback about things in my diet that I may change up. Also, I had one of my best weeks, leading up to my first TOM after I got started with MFP. Yes, it's true that a lot of women tend to gain during that time, but for some reason, I kept losing. It was great!
So, it's definitely a personal choice thing. If you honestly feel like you've been giving it your all and eating healthy foods, maybe you could weigh in. If you're down, great! Or weigh in to get some feedback, but don't make it an official weigh in. If your weight's maintained, that's great because you could think of it as a loss since you're probably retaining water weight. If you gained, just think about what you could be doing differently, to make things better for this week when you really weigh in. Wait until the end of your TOM and weigh in again.
Whatever you decide, don't stress over it. The stress is probably more harmful than almost anything else.0 -
I'm working hard to free myself from obsessing over the numbers on the scale. If the number will make you stress out don't weigh yourself because stress can change your metabolism and make you gain weight - it's true - someone gave me some articles on it. Do you have other ways to measure your health and fitness. What non scale victories can you count right now?0

I am one of the obsessed ones with the scale. I found that if I didn't hop on all the time, it gave me more stress and I wanted to eat more. By getting on regularly, I am encouraged when I am doing well or I know that I am not doing so great and I need to watch it better. I only log in my weight on weigh day. I always weigh on weigh day unless for some reason I wont have a scale available. I keep a written log as well as the log on here. In my written log, I mention what happened during the week. ie: dinner and drinks with friends, excercised well, not enough water, vitamin intake, tom, cravings etc. That way I have some sort of refference. How well did I or didn't I lose, what was different? I know what my weight variations are and when my weight should or shouldn't fluctuate.
I know that lots of people on here stay off of the scale. I found the stress of not knowing too much... ???
You have to figure out which is going to work best for you and do that.
Best of luck!! Have a great day! :flowerforyou:0 -
Thanks so much ladies, I really apreciate the feedback. I may just wait it out until it's over as hard as it will be so I don't get discouraged. I know my food choices have been good, exercise...not so much, maybe a couple times this week. Either way I will hope for the best when it's over. Your body can be so unpredictable, I mean, only 2 periods in almost 4 years then it decides to finally have one now?! Lucky me, I sure didn't miss them I'll tell ya! Thanks again.0

I generally static when its my TOTM but whatever the result is I weigh in and put TOTM at the side. You can't be disappointed if you already know what to expect and for me if I static or am up 1-3lbs I know I've definitely lost some weight because I've always gained several pounds water weight at TOTM.
I'm a scale hopper, I like to see whats going on, seeing the daily even hourly fluctuations has helped me understand and get less stressed by minor changes...not that i don't have mini hissy fits occasionally but nothing that has made me want to throw the towel in or comfort eat0
