Please help me with a song title.

I guess this would be the "chit-chat" category of this forum. There is a song I really like, and I haven't heard it in like 20 years.

The lyrics have grandma in them....and something about a campfire or a bonfire?...and some language I don't recognize.

I'd like to add it to my playlist of songs to "get me going" when I don't feel like working out (and it has a *really* cool beat to it).

I know the specific version I heard and loved so much was *definitely* in an 80s "pop culture" movie...no doubt about that (that's all I watched in the 80s). There might be different versions, but that's the one I'm wanting on my playlist.

Thank you in advance for any help in figuring this out.

I don't know the song title, any other lyrics than what I listed already, or the name of the movie I saw it in....so this might be hopeless. lol I tried google and got nowhere.

Edited to Add: I just remembered I think there is something about boys in it as well. Argh this driving me CRAZY.

    *LOL*

I knew what you were talking about when you said Grandma and a language you couldn't understand! We used to sing this on the playground when I was in the 7th grade! We had no idea what it meant, either!

Because you gave me the song title...it made me remember where I'd heard it. Well..not exactly, but sort of. I remembered Julia Roberts was in the movie so I googled her name and went searching.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWFoI7vgr14 is the version I simply have to have on my playlist.

Thank you both so very much...seriously. It's been driving me bananas practically all day. You know when you get something in your head and you just can't let it go until you remember it? Yeh...it's awful. LOL

    Thanks again!!

Awesome! You know, that's probably the version we were listening to back then, too! That's about the right time period! *LOL* Late 80's early 90's!

The song Iko Iko is about Mardi Gras in New Orleans. The bands would walk around town playing music. If two bands meet, it is never good. So they send spy boys ahead to scout for other bands. Sometimes the spy boys will settle disputes themselves, before the bands ever meet.

The song is in the Movie Rain Man and the Grateful Dead also do a good cover of it.

That is SO awesome! Thank you for the song origin and meaning...I had no idea, now I like it even more! \o/
