Success AFTER Goal Weight

Hi there, I'd like to hear some success stories that extend past the day you hit your goal. As I'm progessing through my weight loss, and almost half way to my goal, I'm starting to get "goal anxiety". I want to be able to keep the weight off instead of gain it all back and re-do my weight loss journey over again.
Any stories to share about keeping the weight off once you've lost it?

Interseting comment. My trainer keeps asking me if i am worried about things after making my goal. To me it is not a concern and I never think about it. but it must be for others because she asks me all the time. just be thankful you made it and remember what it felt like before :-)0

 In short, I hit my goal weight again in the summer time. I've managed to keep to my goal weight. Thanks to my extra swimming training, I've had to boost it up, I must stick to that routine of getting my swimming training exercise in for the week--at least, 3 times a week. it's tough, I do have weeks when that damn kilo just creeps on without notice. I also work in the catering industry and I am around food 24/7. it's my job. dose absolutely no justice to my diet. Thanks to MFP it has helped me know more about food it's nutriental values. I think when you don't know about food you'll eat everything in site. :huh:0

I met my goal several weeks ago and have continued to lose. I don't visit MFP as religiously as I did while I was losing the bulk of my weight, but I try to check in 5 days a week or more. I think the key to my success is that I am comfortable with the foods and lifestyle and I don't miss the stuff that made me gain the weight in the first place.0

I've lost 105 pounds and been at goal/maintenance for just over a year and a half...here's what worked for me:
1. Set a non-weight goal. Strive to get stronger, improve your workouts, take up a new activity. Personally, I took up running. Started out barely able to run for a few minutes when I started Couch to 5k back in Feb 2009. Since then, I have completed a handful of 5k's and 10k's, 3 half marathons and a full marathon. Now, I am looking to get into multi-sport. Running may not be your thing, but just find something.
2. Continue to hang around here for the support. You will need that kick in the *kitten* from time to time, and there are plenty of "old timers" like myself who have been there.
3. Don't forget what you did to meet goal. Of course, you'll tweak your calorie intake and exercise...but if you practiced portion control/clean eating to get here, it works. Sure, you have to eat more...and yes, maybe allow for the occasional indulgence...but meeting goal is not code for "eat as much crap as you want all the time and slack off working out." Make it a true lifestyle change.
4. Never forget where you started and all the hard work you put in to get here. You may slip up here or there, but never give up. If you have before pictures, keep them around as a reminder of where you never want to be again.
5. Be proud of your accomplishment and reward yourself! Post in the before/after thread, buy yourself an outfit, treat yourself to something fun (non-food related, e.g massage, etc.)
6. Pay it forward.
Good luck and congratulations!!!! :flowerforyou:0 -
I haven't hit my goal weight yet, but when I hit it, I'm planning to transition from weight loss to muscle build/definition. At that point, even if I put on a few pounds, as long as I'm transitioning fat to muscle, I'm happy. The goal is not only to be a comfortable weight, but to be in great physical shape as well.0

I set my goal and reward for reaching my goal to the same date. About 4 years ago, I was around 210 pounds and in very bad shape. I used to smoke, my diet was very bad, and I didn't workout.
I decided that I wanted to take scuba diving lessons and I knew I needed to be in shape for this extreme sport. I also didnt want to look like a blob in my bathing suit. I changed my diet, joined a gym and quit smoking. I ended up getting into the best shape of my life.
That was 4 years ago. I am in better shape now. My goals are different because now I am trying to cut body fat and plan to going to bulk up and put some muscle on. I keep my weight between 175-180 pounds.
The key for me was having a hobby that I needed to stay in shape for. I made working out part of my life and it has been for a long time now. I hate missing my workouts.0 -
At the start of my journey, I set out to lose 80lbs. I met that goal on October 9th, 2010. Even though I've adjusted my goals since joining this site, I celebrate my 'goal anniversary' each month. So far, I've rewarded myself for maintaining this original loss with new roller skates, new make up, a FIERCE handbag...
I will celebrate every month for the first year at LEAST. After that, probably quarterly and eventually, annually.
I will always celebrate maintaining and continue to eat right and exercise for the rest of my life
