5:2 support needed - barely losing?!

Hi all,

I started the 5:2 diet a few weeks ago and so far in 3 weeks I've lost just 2 lbs. After reading a thread on here with success stories and after hearing about a friend of mine who lost weight very successfully with it, I'm feeling disheartened at my success.

The first week I started was hard and on my 'normal' days I did indulge in a slice of cake or flapjack to bump up my calories, I've been so used to eating 1,200 that to eat my full 2000 seems like a lot!!

The second week was an odd week - my boyfriend took me out to dinner to celebrate some good news I received, plus there was a family BBQ in the same week plus I had a sickness bug for 2 days so I only fasted once that week as I was more concerned with getting better. I've pretty much wrote off that week!

Last week I did great, my body is really starting to adapt and on my 'normal' days I managed to curb the cake a little and fit in a few gym sessions so I was really excited to get on the scales and assess the weightloss!

I am wondering if my 'normal' days are letting me down, however I have read and heard from people who have succeeded that you can relax a little on normal days as this is a lifestyle change and shouldn't impact your day to day life.

Question fellow 5:2 pals - what do you eat on normal days????

    It's only been three weeks!

    And you have lost 2lbs.

And a typical weekly calorie deficit when following 5:2 for an "average woman" would only be c. 3,000 calories (so in 3 weeks 2.5lbs loss expected perhaps?)

And you have had "odd weeks" with dinner out and a BBQ where your calories are probably an esitmate.

And weight loss isn't linear - especially when following an IF way of eating.

IMO you have been successful but are being too impatient with a plan that is supposed to result in slow but steady loss.

(To answer your question about normal days - when I was using 5:2 to lose weight I ate at maintenance calories five days a week as you are supposed to.)
