Hrm and calories between workouts

I just recently got a hrm. I do 30 minutes on the elliptical then take a 5 minute break for water and move on to either my strength training DVD, Pilates , turbo jam or take a 15 minute walk outside.
However my hrm still shows a burn when I'm in between workouts. I never sit. I walk and take a few drinks and stretch.
Do you count those calories burned in between or do you subtract them? I never noticed it was doing it until toward the end

You're probably not getting that many calories from it - I'd guess 20-30 at most depending on how high your HR is from the elliptical. And I say this because I leave mine running while I stretch for about 5 minutes and that's about what I get.
If you want a more accurate burn calc, I'd pause it and then restart when I went on to the rest of my workout.0 -

I tried to pause it te other day and did it wrong because I ended up stopping it. How do you pause and restart a polar ft4.0 -

that's because an HRM uses your HR as a proxy for calorie expenditure, and as your heart keeps beating then it assumes that you're still burning calories.
If you're using the HRM to measure calorie expenditure on DVDs or resistance training then the count at the end of the sesion is so rife with error that it doesn't matter too much whether you count the handful of calories from your break or not.0 -
I have a polar FT4 and will pause it during a workout and have a few times accidentally stopped it.. LOL
You pause it by pressing the LEFT button on the watch once, it will show time elapsed and current HR, it should then show continue on your display. Press the RIGHT button to continue tracking .. if you press the Left one again it will end your workout but honestly if it's only a few moments I wouldn't worry about it, I use mine while lifting and don't pause it when I'm in between sets...0
