Anxiety caused by food

Hi everyone, I have a friend who has been struggling with her weight for awhile. Lately she has been feeling worse about it. Her struggles are that she hates exercise to the point that she feels anxiety. If she's sitting at home in the evening and wants to eat (which she usually does) she feels anxiety until she eats and goes over her points (she's on WW). I have troubles helping her and motivating her because I enjoy running and exercising and I don't have the same relationship with food that she does. I recently told her to use forums to talk to others who feel or felt the same way she has because I know some have you have succeeded in changing your relationship with food and could potentially help her. I'm not sure if she will do this or if she will talk to her doctor. She struggles with low self esteem and this axiety isn't helping her. She has read about food addictions and thinks she may have this. She has successfully lost weight in the past but right now she is very focused on her anxiety.

If any one has advice for her or me as a friend, like what is the best way to support her journey I'd appreciate anything you have to offer.

Thanks

She needs a therapist. Urge her to see one.

I have mentioned it to her. I think she is thinking about talking to her doctor about it. She's just worried that her doctor will treat it like nothing and tell her to just stop eating.

A primary care physician is not the best person to see about this. She should see therapist who specializes in eating disorders.

Ok I will mention that. I think she may need to be referred by her doctor but maybe not. I will look into it. Thanks for the advice.
