Hey Everyone,
So I'm wondering if anyone can help explain something to me...
When I started losing weight I was 200lbs and after a few good weeks I went seriously down hill and I'm now 204lbs however my jeans don't fit and I can now fit in the size down so I've lost around 3" in my waist and some around my legs etc as the size down fit perfectly...
Ideas? How can I gain weight on the scale but lose size on my lower half?
Thanks Danny

Do you weigh consistently? As in same time of day, same routine (like before breakfast or 1 hour after breakfast), same amount of clothing? If not there can be major fluctuation. Using a different scale, moving it to a different place in the house or needing new batteries could also affect the reading.
Then there is water weight (temporary) from stress, sodium or starting a new fitness routine.0 -
Could you have put on any muscle?
Maybe the increase is all water weight from your down.0 -
Yeah so I weigh on a saturday, usually about 30 minutes after I wake up and in the same clothes.0

I dunno, i gained it all back through take away's and a few weeks holiday break (So eating absolute rubbish)0

This is what I was going to say. I can get a 4 lb weight fluctuation in the same day just from water, sodium intake, food waste, etc. And if you've started exercising, there's water retention with the glycogen storage.
If the smaller size fits, who cares what the scale says? It's not like we walk around with our weight and measurements written on our foreheads. Congrats on your progress!0 -
This sounds like you also took in alot of extra sodium and that is the likely culprit. Keep going, check again in a week or two.I dunno, i gained it all back through take away's and a few weeks holiday break (So eating absolute rubbish)0

No we don't I was just slightly confused really between the scale on my clothes lol.
Thanks for the advice everyone . I think as you say i'll leave it a few weeks and see what it says0 -
Natural body weight fluctuations for most people can be anywhere from 1-5 Lbs day to day and sometimes more. You have to consider water retention/release as well as more/less waste in your system, etc. You need to perform trend analysis rather than focusing all of your attention on the individual weigh ins.0

A victory is a victory. There can be many reasons why your weight is higher and it can take some time for your weight to catch up to how your body is changing. If you fit in a small size, take it! Congrats!0
