fitbit one of fitbit flex? which is better?

I want to but one but not being a gadget person I am having difficulty deciding. Also to those who have it would you recommend it over a normal pedometer?

A One is more accurate than a Flex. But you don't need a lot of accuracy, just consistency.

They are glorified pedometers but well worth the extra money for the 'glorification', if you ask me. Cheap pedometers are bulky and ugly, don't all automatically reset, don't all give reasonable calorie burn estimates, don't wirelessly transmit your data to the web, don't have a site to analyze your data graphically alongside your intake data and are just not 'fun to wear'.

But you can get a really 'old school' pedometer for $5. Maybe see if you like wearing one of those first?

A Fitbit does have a learning curve and can be annoying to people who expect it to do things it never was intended for, like estimate calories from cycling or swimming.

I've had a pedometer for years.....I would take it out & wear it once in awhile. You could chart the daily numbers on a calendar or something. Set goals if you want.

But, my FitBit One is something I wear everyday. I can sync it and it will give me weekly progress reports. I like seeing the flights of stairs, etc. It gives me an estimated TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). When I get to maintenance I will have a pretty good idea.
