Ideas for sweet meals

Hi everyone!
I have a huge sweet tooth and I thought I would replace breakfast and lunch with sweeter meals. Not necessarily desserts, but sweet tasting meals that are actually healthy and nutritious. Now I'm wondering how to make a sweet lunch? (Breakfast is the easier one) Or should I just eat the same foods for lunch that I eat for breakfast? Like cereal and milk? Or fruit and yoghurt?
Any ideas for sweet lunches?

I feel like I'm always talking about it here but one of my favourite meals (or giant snack if I'm uber-low cal for the day) is freezing some peeled bananas, then when they're good and frozen pop two in a blender with a cup of milk (I use 1%...also you can use a bit less, but I like mine a little more drinkable) blend it up nice and creamy. Comes out about 310 calories, is sweet, reminds me a lot of ice cream or a milkshake.
Also I have no shame about breakfast-y meals for lunch or dinner. It's all food, who cares what time of day it's eaten?0 -
Breakfast: fruits, oatmeal with apples and cinnamon, baked oatmeal, protein pancakes with strawberries, banana and peanut butter on toast.
Lunch: Add apple or pear slices to a sandwich, add grapes to a salad, almond butter and jelly sandwich, baked/steamed Korean sweet potatoes (very sweet! especially when slightly overcooked, the sugars caramelize a bit), add dried cranberries to a tuna salad,.
Basically, my answer is: add fruit.0 -
Crepes can be filled with anything but if youre looking for a "sweet" meal, we had this as a dessert but itll work for anytime!
Melissa's - Crepe - Ready to Use, 1 Crepe 51 cals
T. Marzetti's - Sugar Free Glaze for Strawberries, 1 tbsp 3 cals (does NOT taste sugar free!)
Kraft Cool Whip - Fat Free , 1 Tbsp 8 cals
Sliced up Strawberries!
We enjoy "breakfast" for dinner so we've done this before:
Homemade - French Toast Made With 35 Calorie Bread and Egg Whites, 1 slice 40 cals
Sugar Free Syrup, 1/4 cup 30 cals
You can add whatever fruit to go on top w/ a sprinkle of powdered sugar
Pair it w/ sausage, ham or bacon for protein
Or make some eggs to go w/ it!0 -
I had the most amazing lunch a few days ago. I grilled some sliced peaches with balsamic vinegar, then ate it atop a piece of bread (but a cracker, grilled portebello, or flat bread would also be delicious) with a few thin sheets of brunost cheese (although I imagine blue cheese would also work)0

Wow this all sounds really good. The only problem is most of the ideas don't have protein.0

I had a friend make me a delicious sweet quinoa dish using some golden pistachios, raisins, apple, and grapefruit (or oranges).
Something along the lines of this: http://www.yummly.com/recipe/Warm-and-nutty-cinnamon-quinoa-308838?columns=6&position=5/75
Also, what came to mind is lean ham or pork and fruit. For example a low cal option I like is some ham steaks and applesauce. Or pork loin and peaches or apples. Mixing savory and sweet ...but leaning towards sweet is really satisfying for me.
Hope you find something you like!0 -
Concentrated balsamic vinegar, concentrated fruit vinegars... Also, some salt can bring out the sweetness in some foods as well.
I got bored one day and mixed a small 50c fruit cup (no added sugar, baby food size) into my chicken and that was a nice change from the savory that I am used to. I also will drizzle the concentrated balsamic on my protein to pick up some sweetness.
I don't intake a lot of sugar - I average about 5-10g a day. Don't have the sweet tooth so it's not a burden. But that being said, once you get used to a lower amount of sugar in your diet, you will taste the sweet easier at lower sugar levels.
Good luck.0 -
I have fruit and sometimes greek yogurt almost every day or lunch, maybe once or twice a month I will have leftovers, or in winter berries and oatmeal a bit more often due to the chill. I spent a long time initially trying to add in variety but it would make me more hungry in the afternoon and definitely crave more sweets.0

Some random thoughts:
Look up some Asian food recipes - they have plenty of glazes for meats with a sweet edge. Look for honey, sesame, mirin, palm sugar, brown sugar in the ingredients. We have a Chinese restaurant here that makes a crispy honey-sesame chicken that is to die for - almost candy-like, and I know how that sounds but trust me, it's delicious. I've had then prepare it with stir-fried chicken, too and it was very good even without the crunch.
What about sweet potatoes? Bake and add cinnamon and butter, even some mini marshmallows if you like. Or make sweet potato fries - oven baked or fried.
Caramelized onions are sweet. Use them in your dishes.
You could have honey, jam, or figs with cheese.0 -
Thanks sounds yum. I'll also include some sweet veggies like corn, peas, squash, beets and sweet potato. I like all those.
I've been thinking of pairing chicken with applesauce  maybe I'm being weird but who knows. I've also thought about baking some Banana bread but I'm not sure which protein I'd add with it. Not sure chicken will work :happy:0 -
Fruits are sweet all by their little old lonesomes.
A little glaze on veggies. A dash of sugar added to anything.
I add raisins to rice sometimes, just for the hell of it. It's good!
A little applesauce is very sweet.0 -
For breakfast I like porridge with skimmed-milk and a sliced banana (I cook my porridge in the microwave so the banana is really nice and soft). I also like tinned peaches on my porridge but I add those after cooking.
In terms of lunch what about adding pineapple slices on top of a chicken breast (and depending on calories available) with some melted cheese over it. This goes nicely with a bit of brown or wild rice.0 -
If you like going out for lunch, I often get the Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki sandwich at Subway. On the 6 inch whole grain wheat with the sweet onion sauce and veggies (lettuce, onion, green peppers is how I like it), its under 400 calories. It's really good. I usually get it with water and apple slices. A really great (and sweet), filling lunch that lasts me to supper.0

That sounds lovely considering I'm a girl who also likes hawaiian pizza! I like that most of these recipes are lowish calorie as well as obviously lunch is also my lighter meal of the day. At 1600 a day I need to have a smaller breakfast and lunch so I can have a bigger dinner.0 -
Pineapple and Ham (cook ham w/ pineapple(s))
Pork Chops w/ applesauce (<~~~make your own using a crockpot, instead of store bought!)0 -
Thai curries are often pretty sweet. Sometimes I'll do a red curry with chicken and it hits the spot when I'm craving something along the lines of a "sweet" meal.0

I like grilled porkchops with applesauce.
Also you can make a great sandwich with ham, cheese and crushed pineapple and then grilled.
