Losing weight vs maintaining weight

Hi guys,
I am new here so I dont know if this was discussed before- if so please link the post below!
I tried eating the recommended amount (1500 calories for me) to lose 1 or 2 lbs a week and it did nothing over an entire month. So I am doing a more drastic approach.
I am eating 1000 calories (less than recommended) and am getting great results! (losing 3-4lbs a week). I am wondering about when I get to my ideal weight, should I go back to my recommended calories to maintain the new weight (1800) or will this make me gain weight?
And if I should go back, how fast/slow should I get back up to that number?
Thanks all!! I am so happy to be losing weight, it has been years of struggles.

If you are exercising regularly you are going to need to eat more very soon otherwise you will stop losing weight. Yes the more you lose the more you should eat but because you have been eating so little you have to do it slowly. I recommend adding about 100 calories a day every 1-2 weeks and that should result in either faster weight loss or no weight gain.0
