Cheat Sheets/ Helper Apps

When I was on Weight Watchers, they had an app with "Cheat Sheet" for if you were going to a Chinese/Mexican/Italian restaurant or out for cocktails. And it would give you the best options for those kinds of foods. There was even a tool that you could build your own pizza or pasta bowl and it would tell you the "Points" value. Is there anything like this for calories?

I don't know of an app or free cheat sheet but the book 'Eat This, Not That' (link below) sprang to mind. And the WW cheat sheets would work as well for calories as points, since points is very calorie-based.

Restaurant web sites with NI are great sources. And you can probably google up many general tips like 'at Mexican restaurants get fajitas and skip the flour tortillas' or 'at Italian get tomato based not creamy sauces, or get veal or chicken dishes'.

The MFP app has a recipe tool that you can 'build your own' anything in.

I don't know of any but it would be nice to have some sort of guide as to what is better calorie wise when eating out. What I do now is just look at differnt things. I usually know ahead of time where I'm going so I just plug differnt things in MFP to see what works for my day.

As far as the build your own pizza or pasta bowl, you can basically do that with MFP. Just put the items in seperatly and you just built it. It will still be a shot in the dark because you won't be able to weigh everything that goes in there nor will you know the specific calories for each item.
